Superintendent’s Goals 2008-09
Student Assessment: Monitor student performance and provide appropriate resources to ensure students achieve their maximum potential.
Johnson School students will perform consistently among the top 25% as measured
by the spring MCAS test results from 2009
85% of students taking MCAS/ELA will score Proficient or Advanced
75% of students taking MCAS/Math will score Proficient or Advanced
Elimination of warning/failing scores at all grade levels in all MCAS tests ELA and Math
Curriculum: Work with the Johnson School Principal and SPS administration to promote communication and articulation necessary to ensure successful transition into the Swampscott grade seven
Schedule a meeting during the 1st Trimester to organize schedule
Schedule meetings between schools to foster interaction
Develop a five year plan to purchase texts and support materials
Technology: Work with the Johnson School Principal and technology teacher to pursue technology curriculum PreK – Grade 6
Identify technology curriculum focus for 2008 – 09
Determine how instruction will occur using technology
Facilitate training of faculty and staff on new computers
Develop appropriate equipment/student ratios and corresponding costs
Continued development towards the full implementation of the school management
system - iPass
Communications: Broaden the awareness, understanding and support of the education that children receive at the Johnson School in order to build a positive relationship among parents and the greater Nahant community.
Ongoing letters and informational publications to parents and news outlets
Continued improvements to the NPS website
Outreach to school support organizations
Finance: Work with the Budget Sub-Committee of the School Committee and Town officials to support an appropriate level of funding for the Nahant Public Schools.
Develop a budget for FY10 and a five year budget projection with projected increases
and appropriate support documents
Seek alternative funding sources to support school programs
Personnel Management: Develop guidelines and salary structure for support personnel.
Salary schedule and responsibilities for Classroom Aids
Revisit responsibilities and stipend for the Vice Principal
